Change of scene

I can’t tell you how many days I spent combating writers block while sitting in my office corner.

Now don’t get me wrong - I have an awesome office in the corner of our house with an amazing desk and epic computer.

But I set up my office to have the computer in the corner with the sun to my back. And the longer I sat in that spot, the further behind in my book I became.

Then one day I thought about something my therapist taught me. “When our mind perceives the space around us to be small and closed in, our thoughts and feelings become just as small and closed in. Go outside, look at the open scenery, and spread your arms and body wide to open yourself and your mind”.

Well now. That made sense when I was dealing with my emotions. But I never knew how much it could open up my writing and knock out writers block.

That weekend I changed my office around and spent some time writing outside. And let me tell you - I went from 10 chapters to 17 working a weekend.

So here’s to anyone out there struggling with any aspect of life - go outside, open up your view, and give yourself a break!!
